Pluto in Capricorn – The Ending of an Era

Pluto in Capricorn – The Ending of an Era

By: Rose Marcus

Just as the rock that forms over great lengths of time, by the time the evolutionary journey has advanced to Capricorn’s third quarter position around the zodiacal wheel, the conditioning patterns and the realities it has created have crystallized to such a degree that consciousness is primarily resistant and largely impenetrable. At this latter stage of the twelve-fold cycle, preservation is paramount for the Capricorn archetype.

Considering that which has been established has required great labor over a great length of time, Capricorn will place substantial value (angularity to Libra) onto what it has built, and therefore it is heavily invested in maintaining itself. Keep in mind that all cardinal archetypes are instigating. Their industry is always mobilizing with fresh force. Because this is so, the drive to secure and maintain is always fueled by new energy. So too is the conflict of insecurity, a drive that is kept alive by Capricorn’s polarity, cardinal Cancer. The threat of losing control is ever inciting to the Capricorn consciousness. This forms the root-cause behind Capricorn’s anxiousness to maintain the status quo and to resist change. This keeps a fear-based energy-charge active.

To lose control is to enter into the realm of chaos. It is a threatening prospect that Capricorn fears yet unconsciously desires. Why? Capricorn’s intrinsic wisdom senses that a dive into the primal waters of chaos will return consciousness to its natural, unregulated state; this is where the breeding ground for new “life” is found.

When the cardinal Capricorn archetype is animated by transit, a new level of preservation is ignited, which results in intensified action directed to re-secure control. Capricorn’s first impulse is to resist, mistrust, or reject anything new. New initiatives (instigated by the angularity of Aries creative impulse) can be initially assessed as confronting, threatening, and even hostile to the structures and status quo that have been previously established.

The natural friction between Pluto’s transformative process and Capricorn’s barricading impulse facilitates an energy exchange between the two, and productively so, as is the creative nature and purpose of the sextile angle. Both Scorpio and Capricorn are mistrustful, self-regulating, self repressing, and control-oriented archetypes. When combined, the propensity for resistance, suspicion, and power-play agendas can double.

Self-preserving, fear-based, and resistant Capricorn is prone to the employment of lock-down remedies that will recycle and prolong struggle. The result leads to added suffering, loss, and depletion that perpetuates more “death”, rather than create fresh life.

When consciousness is turned inward on itself (yin), it can unleash the depressed, repressed, denigrated, devalued, trapped, inhibited, grief stricken, hard done by, long suffering, or persecuted victim. The result of such self-infliction can produce ineffectiveness, pessimism, submissiveness, self sabotage, paranoia, and futility consciousness. Too, this inner orientation can prompt emotional and physical depletion, immobilization, paralysis, and self-destruction.

When the attention is turned/projected outward (yang) it can unleash the harsh judge, critic, or persecutor. Here we can find the rejecting skeptic, the bossy one, the bully, the user, the despot, the tyrant, the terrorist, the rapist, the violator, the guilty one, the criminal.

When selfish ambition, power, authority, domination, control, fear, anxiety, biased judgments, and distorted rationalizations are at the base of the Pluto in Capricorn subconscious drive, the unbridled momentum of its enforcement agenda can cut a path of great destructiveness and ignite a cataclysmic experience.

When that which Capricorn has held in check, (i.e. that which it has regulated, contained, guarded, inhibited, suppressed, or resisted) is released, it is done with great force. It can be radically so when extreme Uranus in Aries squares destructive Pluto in Capricorn. This duo is most formidable, eruptive, disruptive, and explosive of all planetary combinations. Beyond all levels of human existence, its life-altering reach is powerful enough to produce geophysical disturbances and earthquakes. The perilous years when the transit of Uranus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn are signature razor’s edge times, when both life on the planet and the planet itself undergo major upheaval and critical transition. In addition to the progressive fall-out from global warming, our rage, anger, frustration, and aggression can heat to the boil-over point, the result of which can ignite a particularly merciless episode of man’s crimes against man, and against humanity too. Brutality, ruthlessness, violence, crime, sexual violation, murder, and war can run rampant in such desperate times.

Conversely, when the initiating point of Aries “looks back” to Capricorn’s ripened foundation, the Aries/Capricorn creative impulse can be reflective of ripe and appropriate timing combined with wisdom and maturity that has been gained through experience. When the Aries/Capricorn creative impulse is built on judgment based on naturally evolving needs, not compensatory, manufactured, or artificial needs, there is an ability to “move mountains”. The results then lead to the fertilization of a thriving new life force that is infused with unlimited potential. Coming from a secure, mature, well-built, well-fortified, and self-controlled Capricorn anchor, the creative process can be one of constructive application of that which has come before. Self-rule and self-mastery becomes a breeding pool (Cancer polarity) and a channel for purpose in action. This can result in great accomplishment, often achieved in short order. The implementation of appropriate means can ignite and support an enduring creative wellspring. This lays the groundwork for successful socialization and self-determination; effective execution, command, control, and authority; purpose, validity, recognition, and respect; achievements of significant and lasting value.

THE EVOLUTIONARY PUSH FORWARD

Marking an essential restructuring phase for the collective soul and for individual evolution too, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn brings the conditioned consciousness and all of its manifestations to a maturation peak. Pluto’s transformative mandate will serve to create a progressively reordered state of existence itself. Countries, borders, and geography will be significantly and forever altered; so too, the political, economic, cultural, and societal standards that regulate common everyday life.

The consciousness of evolution (the ever-evolving past) and the creations of evolution (the ever-evolving present) occur simultaneously. Such is the nature of Capricorn’s dual archetype. Pluto in Capricorn advances the dismantling of the previous era, bringing an entire cycle of development to culmination and closure, while at the same time construction begins on a new era.

How an individual or a collective will respond to its evolution is in direct correlation to its state of consciousness and the workings of its free will. As stated previously, when consciousness is fearfully anchored, (Capricorn resisting Aries) the foundation is fragile and insecure, therefore the new is met with struggle. When consciousness is securely anchored, (Aries resourcing from Capricorn) the past becomes a solid foundation to build from and the new becomes the supportive and revitalizing tool of progress and positive evolutionary advance.

As Pluto transits Capricorn the collective unconscious itself experiences an acceleration of evolution. This occurs at every level, from the inner conditionings to the outer reality base, at the individual, social, economic, national, political, and collective levels.

Collectively and individually, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn compels us to learn a new way of creating our everyday realities. That which can no longer support the evolutionary requirements will be dismantled and discarded. That which can house and support the evolving form will gain in scope and momentum. The transit is a testing time for the durability of existing structures, programs, and ideologies. Commonly accepted standards of doing business – of economics, commerce, industry, business, politics, religions, customs, social ethics and hierarchies – are put to the test. Also included in this list is humankind’s relationship to the manifested creation, to the physical realms of the earth itself and the cosmos.

Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will prompt different evolutionary lessons for various states of consciousness. The particulars of the consensus, individuated and spiritual evolutionary states have been outlined earlier in this book. *(Pluto and the Four Natural Evolutionary Conditions, pages 25, 26, Pluto, Evolutionary Journey of the Soul, Jeff Green) *

EVOLVING THE RELATIONSHIP TO EXTERNAL AUTHORITY/
THE CONSENSUS EVOLUTIONARY STATE

The first order of business for Pluto’s transit through Capricorn is to evolve the parameters of externalized or consensus authority and the nature of its ordered reality. Those in the consensus evolutionary state are meant to learn how to function and find purpose within the dictates and limitations of the structured system. They will learn intensified lessons regarding the dynamics of externalized authority and how the system works. As they learn to evolve their relationship to external authority, this acceleration program also prompts the individual to evolve and externalize their personal authority. When Pluto transits Capricorn, both those who are ruled and those who rule must learn new lessons in accountability to the whole. These lessons will occur at all levels, within the everyday reality of an individual life, and through each of the various tiers of the socialized and collective reality base.

In order to make the shift into the paradigms of the coming age, all unfinished business must be resurrected in order for it to be exposed and evolved. Exposure and experience serves to generate the necessary awareness. Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will serve to draw back the curtain until the flaws, failings, and destructiveness of the system become so obvious, they can no longer be ignored. For this reason, economic, social, and political corruption can rise before it falls. Typically, these years create a wider divide between the have and have not; they intensify the actions and ambitions of the self-serving, the corrupt, and the power-hungry. In these critical staging years, we can see the few attempting to manipulate, dominate, and control the many by utilizing any and all means possible. No matter where one looks, extensive corrosion can be readily evidenced.

Pluto’s stripping away process is programmed to destroy Capricorn’s false walls. The transit serves to expose the corrupt workings of the system – both the rationalizations that perpetuate the reality base, and the corrupt individuals, organizations, corporations, etc., who have learned to use the system to their self-serving advantage.

Token acceptance of “getting away with whatever you can” has long been a factor of everyday life and of “business as usual”. This philosophy is readily evident in corporate and political worlds as well as in individual lives. The example of Italian president Silvio Berlusconi is a case in point. Despite an extensive record of widely known criminal allegations against him, at the time of this writing, he still continues to rule the country.

In order to enforce necessary evolution, Pluto in Capricorn’s reformation years can deliver harsh consequences. Consider the historic case of the Deep Water Horizon oil rig disaster of 2010. In a “means justifies the profits” move, the US regulatory body overlooked safety standards that allowed for BP (British Petroleum) Corporation to cut corners. A staggering five hundred million barrels of oil pumped into the waters, resulting in the devastating loss of livelihood and human, fowl and marine life on a massive scale.

When it comes to the corrupt using and manipulating the system for selfish gain, headline news has endless examples from which to draw. At the start of Pluto in Capricorn’s transit came the arrest and life sentence of notorious American swindler Bernie Madoff, who masterminded the largest Ponzi scheme in history, bilking investors out of an estimated US$65,000,000,000. It is believed he began his fraud while Pluto transited Libra, sometime in the 1970’s. He was arrested in December 2008, as Pluto entered Capricorn, and sentenced in March, 2009. At the time transiting Pluto in Capricorn formed an opposition aspect to his progressed Chiron in Cancer.

After 29 years of reign and eighteen days of protests in the streets, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was ousted and subsequently arrested for his alleged corruption and atrocities against the Egyptian people, including the massacre of protestors. Mubarak came to power after Anwar Sadat was assassinated. Mubarak’s regime began in October, 1981 as Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto were in Libra. His demise occurred on February 11, 2011, as the transit of Pluto in Capricorn formed a square aspect to the October 1981 position of Saturn’s transit in Libra.

In defiant resistance to relinquishing his strangle-hold on the country, Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi avowed to “unleash hell”. He hired foreign mercenaries to massacre his own people, and chose to wage and waste human life rather than give up his rule and his family’s lavish lifestyle.

At the other end of the spectrum, we see monumental stakes played on behalf of justice seeking, and herculean efforts to establish rightful control, to re-secure boundaries, and to reclaim rightful dues. In 2001, to serve notice and to re-enforce its authority and supremacy over the world of terrorism, the USA mounted what would prove to be a ten-year retribution manhunt for Osama bin Laden, the leader of the Al-Qaeda movement. He was found and executed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011.

The liability of conformity can come with a high price tag. There are many people living tragic lives because they have been taught to believe that there is no other way for them to exist. Consider the many who resort to selling their bodies or even body parts because they are psychologically configured to think that they have no other means of survival, or the poor of South America and elsewhere who send their young children and husbands to work in the coal mines without proper respiratory protection, knowing they are sentencing them to early deaths. Consider the brainwashing of cultural jihads that create killing machines out of young boys and men in the name of Allah. Or consider the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation that had been a common cultural practice in Africa, Asia and elsewhere. Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will serve to break outmoded and artificial herd standards, to decimate the hypocrisies of social convention, and of social extremes. (Note: As of July 2015, female genital mutilation became outlawed in Nigeria.)

When Pluto transits Capricorn, we see both a time has come and a time has run out. Since Pluto last visited Capricorn, 248 years ago, sanctioned slavery has been abolished. In the latter portion of this cycle, significant advances have been made regarding women’s liberation, civil rights, and sexual emancipation. Still, the evolution is far from complete. We have yet to eradicate poverty, hunger, worker’s slavery, women’s slavery, and humanity’s needless suffering. Too, we have much work to do to transform the collective concept that holds to the superiority of one gender over another and to the superiority of our species.

Ultimately the transit of Pluto in Capricorn serves to advance lessons in submission to higher authority. Through the application of increasing pressure, it serves to expose, breakdown, and reform the judgments, rationalizations, and justifications that perpetuate the inequitable system.

THE INDIVIDUATION PROCESS/
THE INDIVIDUATED EVOLUTIONARY STATE

The individuation process is one of progressively learning to separate from consensus based ideologies and lifestyles, to develop and align with internal authority, and to expand knowledge of the creator that is self. At this level of learning and growth, lessons and experiences pertaining to independence and self-rule are advanced.

While the consensus evolutionary state makes for the largest percentage of the collective, Pluto’s contemporary transit through Capricorn will serve to increase the sphere of worldly influence for those in the individuated evolutionary state.

In the Pluto in Capricorn years, creative self-actualization at its best will see individualized contribution and service to the whole increase in such a way to effectively revolutionize individual lives; societal, cultural, economic, and political standards; and humanity’s relationship to the planet and the cosmos.

Those in this evolutionary grouping will progressively discover the courage to question the dictates of consensus rule that allow for common acceptance of oppression and subjugation, and to think for themselves beyond the brain-washing of mass media that reinforces herd consciousness. For those in the individuated evolutionary state, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will prompt the development of a more authentic rather than synthetic way of living. These individuals will develop greater respect and seek to live in greater accord with nature and its ebb and flow, rather than to uphold or be enslaved to the artificial standards imposed by workings of a consensus regulated system. In this regard, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn can create a wider divide between the lifestyles, ideologies, and ambitions of those in the consensus and the individuated states of evolution.

During Pluto’s transit in Capricorn, consensus groups that aim to uphold the system as is can grow more socially active, even militant, but we will also see a growing number of individuated types who reject and rebel against the system and its arbitrary definitions. There will be a visible increase of counter-culture and off the grid types. This evolutionary state will also see an increase in fringe-dwellers, social outcasts, political outcasts, and radical groups. Their new trends, grass-roots movements, and revolutions will prove to be synchronized with the needs of necessary reform as is dictated by Pluto’s transit. Some of the advances made in this evolutionary state will occur as a natural “time has come” progression, while other evolutionary advances will be made through the cataclysmic experience.

As Pluto transits Capricorn, those in the individuated evolutionary state will progressively learn to create a new reality base that will transform one-on-one relationship dynamics and revolutionize contemporary lifestyles. This is the key social grouping that will introduce and accelerate the advance of the new technologies, sustainable industries, and sciences that will upgrade the quality of everyday life and that will preserve life on the planet too. This is the collective grouping that will be most responsible for launching the movement away from our addiction to oil, gas, and nuclear energy, and from the unscrupulous business practice of profits-before-humanity. As individuals and as a collective unit, they have the greater responsibility of stepping forward more prominently as social activists to lead the collective movements that will support, safeguard, sustain, and enhance life on the planet. This collective is the one most responsible for advancing new energy technologies, agricultural means, and social politics. Coming full circle, much of the creativity, inventiveness, and lifestyles of this evolutionary state will have roots in the past, in old, ancient, or tribal ways, methods, inventions, sciences, etc. We can already see the beginnings, such as the movements reverting back to wind and solar as alternative energy sources, and the popularized new health trends that have resurrected natural therapies, remedies, etc.

SPIRITUALIZATION OF CONSCIOUSNESS/
REDEFINING THE RELATIONSHIP TO HIGHER AUTHORITY/THE DIVINE
THE SPIRITUAL EVOLUTIONARY STATE

Those in the spiritual state of evolution are accelerating and reclaiming the consciousness of the totality of oneness. They are meant to serve as a greater realization of the interconnectedness of every thing in creation. Leading and teaching by example, this group’s task is to evolve and expand a more unified relationship with source, and also to serve as more prominent spiritual role models and teachers to the collective. The influence of Pluto in Capricorn will serve to reformat and accelerate their own personal understanding and relationship to the divine as they evolve along their own path of service.

The necessity for sacrifice, atonement, purification, and suppression of the senses and flesh (sexual expression) are manufactured concepts of consensus based religions. These concepts are ones that are the root cause of much pain, denigration, violence, and suffering in the world; that are in dire need of eradication. As we now work our way through the end of the Age of Pisces, Pluto in Capricorn will assist the in the revival of universal truths as the primary tools for the building of our new reality and the coming new Age. Leading by example, this group is meant to set an active example of foundation truths – i.e. to acknowledge the interconnectedness and equality of everything in creation, to do our part and to contribute more reverently as co-creators. Through living their own paths more fully, those in this evolutionary state will advance the collective understanding of karma and dharma. Their lead may not be instantly understood, recognized, appreciated, or respected, but there is great purpose in the imprints and legacies that will serve over time.

Evolution occurs at all levels. During Pluto’s tenancy in Capricorn, spiritual authorities and gurus will also accelerate their own evolution and teachings. For souls in this evolutionary group, the transit of Pluto through Capricorn corresponds to a time of ripening and culmination chapter for greater spiritual alignment. They have been preparing and training for their service over many lifetimes. Pluto in Capricorn now sets the circumstances in place that allows for the greater utilization of their natural gifts and resources in active service. This group will contribute as healers, guides, and role models, and in doing so, they will create more outer world effectiveness and influence. Souls at this state of evolution will feel a sense of being guided to their life’s calling and higher purpose with a greater sense of divine providence. To the outsider, it can appear as though a higher percentage are called onto a path of service, but in reality, Pluto’s culminating transit through Capricorn is simply removing a veil and delivering an “I am called” moment. Those in the early spiritual state will serve primarily at the one-on-one level. Those in more advanced spiritual states will serve the masses.

Too, the evolution of this path of service along the current timeline will serve to transform the practice of devotion through sacrifice and suffering, and to embrace the work of the divine through the practice of more joyful and blissful service. Those moving through the spiritual evolutionary states are learning to expand the understanding of what it means to be “in the world but not of it”.

Just like the ripple effect of the pebble tossed into the water, souls in the spiritual state of evolution are here to create and demonstrate the multi-faceted manifestations of the divine in the real world, and to further solidify their own union with god/goddess/source. Through their life works and personal life example, they will serve to awaken others to their relationship to spirit.

SEVERING FROM THE PAST/CREATING A NEW WORLD ORDER
PLUTO IN CAPRICORN/URANUS IN ARIES

PLUTO IN CAPRICORN:
January 25 – June 13, 2008;
November 26, 2008 – March 23, 2023;
Sept 1, 2024 – November 19, 2024

URANUS IN ARIES:
May 27, 2010 – Aug 13, 2010;
Mar 11, 2011 – May 15, 2018;
Nov6, 2018 -March 6, 2019;
Nov 6, 2018 – March 6, 2019

Pluto’s transit through Capricorn is now in the process of culminating and surpassing the zenith of an entire cycle of evolution. Its first order of business is to demolish the structures and systems that have outgrown their usefulness, this in order to set the stage for the next construction project to begin. Facilitating a more radical tear down and rebuild program, the transit of Uranus will remain in square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn for the duration of its transit through Aries, holding within a few degrees of orb through most of Uranus’ transit through Aries. Uranus forms seven exact squares to Pluto: June 24, 2012; Sept 18, 2012, May 20, 2013, November 1, 2013; April 21, 2014, December 14, 2014; March 16, 2015.

The transit of Uranus in critical aspect to Pluto marks particularly significant periods of historic collective transformation and modernization. When Uranus is in cardinal Aries and Pluto is in cardinal Capricorn, evolution reaches an extreme activation peak. Anything that is weak, decayed, damaged, or corrupt is likely to explode or implode with immense impact. Radical and revolutionary change occurs in a relatively shortened timeframe. Just like the effects of tsunami or explosion, the critically defining action moment may be but a flash in time, but the ensuing results are of long-lasting consequence.

The start of Pluto in Capricorn’s wrecking-ball swing has left no time wasted on the clock. The transit started with the turning-point of the worst world-wide economic crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930’s. This economic crisis – the systemic crisis of capitalism, was primarily accredited to leading events in the USA: the near fatal collapse of Wall Street and the American auto giants, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, and the US banking system’s liquidity shortfalls which created a world-wide domino effect. Greece, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal are notable among the countries in dire economic crisis. With pinned-against-the-wall pressure, governments and governing bodies such as the EU (European Union) were forced to step-in with massive financial bailouts, more regulatory measures, and belt tightening. (As of July 2015, Greece moves into an uncharted economic realm that may result in an exit from the EU.)

The evolutionary cycle we are now completing began with Pluto’s last transit to Capricorn. It is one marked by socio-economic growth prompted by the advances of the industrial revolution, the rise of democracy and capitalism, and the birth of the super-power leading nation, the USA. In this past 248 years, our collective reality has been progressively shaped by our concept of money which has established the intricate banking and credit system we now know. Those who live in democratic countries are of the opinion that this socio-political economic system is superior to all others. Yet, today most would agree that the theory and the actualizing are not one and the same. There is much corruption and failing within the systems we have designed. At the time of this writing in 2011, the USA is carrying a $65 trillion deficit. It may be difficult to imagine that the institution of democracy could be replaced, but suffice to say the model we are using today is in dire need of recalibration. In fact, there are many who would argue that many democratic governments are progressively operating in more fascist ways. Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will eventually redefine individual political systems and the global political landscape too.

Global financial and political reforms are already in the works. Emerging market countries such as the BRIC group, (comprised of Brazil, India, and the two former political rivals, Russia and China) are already seeking more say in global governance. Among them, this group currently holds forty percent of the world’s population. It can only be expected that their economic and political influence will continue to grow in the years to come.

With the world-wide spread of disease, and food, air and water contamination reaching life threatening levels, the countries of the world cannot live as islands unto themselves. What affects one, affects all. Pollution control mandates will prove much less effective – and perhaps altogether ineffective, unless global cooperation is in place. These critical matters and more will engender essential global political reform.

As Pluto advances through Capricorn, the weak, outmoded, and corrupt will perish, while the strong will survive and thrive if their time has come.

URANUS SQUARE PLUTO AND BEHAVIOURAL CONTAGION

The spring of 2011 saw simultaneous revolutions explode in Tunisia and Egypt, civil war erupt in Libya, major protests in Algeria, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Oman, and Yemen, with smaller protests in many other countries in the region and elsewhere in the world. Included in this list are the countries of Europe teetering on the precarious edge economic ruin: Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, etc.

Today’s social media and world web offers an unprecedented opportunity to link up, to acquire, share, and to disseminate information as never before. This powerful tool saved lives during environmental catastrophes such as we have witnessed with Haiti and 911. For the Middle East crisis of 2011, it served as a useful tool to by-pass government restricted and state-controlled media, to gain the necessary momentum and coordination to create united revolts. Social media and the internet has also served the web of crime, making it much easier for such terrorist groups as Isis and Boko Haram to organize themselves, frighten the world, and to brainwash, radicalize, and recruit those who may have never come into contact with such a group if not for the opportunity provided by social media.

The mounting frustrations caused by extremes of poverty, mass unemployment, mushrooming beyond control inflation, corrupt governments that continue to hoard the wealth for the few, economic collapse, and dire lack of opportunity will serve to increase the radical reactive responses and violence of emancipation movements. As of 2015, Isis, Boko Haram, and their recruiting and radicalization of youth are daily in the news.

One act of defiance inspires and loans courage to another. The contagion of extreme social reactive-ness and uprising can catch-on like the start of a mass pandemic. It can burgeon to an alarming, even shocking peak during the Uranus square Pluto trigger years as mass waves of desperation and outrage grow beyond containment. In 2011, 75% of Algeria’s population was recorded under 30 years of age. This group grew up in the 1990’s during the country’s ten year civil war; they have known nothing but violence as a way a life. On another hand, take the example of Spain, a country that has built an affluent way of life for its population, but that suddenly found itself on brink of economic ruin in 2011, with youth unemployment recorded at 43%. These two examples have different histories, but they are meeting in the same place regarding prospects for a future.

As of 2011, one third of the world’s population does not have access to enough water or food on a daily basis. What if this percentage increased? Or doubled? In addition to food contamination such as E.Coli bacteria outbreaks that have destroyed entire crops and forced the destruction of livestock, the upcoming Uranus in Aries years will produce weather extremes that are likely to severely hamper food production.

The transit of Pluto through Capricorn positions the collective soul at the breaking-point timeline. Aided by the shockwave transit of Uranus in Aries, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn will serve to utterly destroy the reality construct we have now in order to enforce a necessary and radical shift to a new collective reality. As we move through this once-in-a-lifetime transit, we may find ourselves twice shocked; once due to the reality of circumstances beyond control, and secondarily, by witnessing our own hand in the destructiveness and the opportunities that were lost along the way. When the world starves, when shelter and everyday necessities are scarce or non existent, reactions against the prevailing order will occur at all levels. When threatened to such an extreme, primitive and primal responses are activated. We will find ourselves capable of surprising feats, to the plus and to the minus.

Pluto’s tear down mandate is meant to level the play field for all. Eventually, it will force humanity to lay a foundation that will house, support, and work for the common good of all, not for the select or seemingly superior few who have the money and means, and therefore hold most of the control. It is major work and it will extend far beyond the current Pluto in Capricorn transit.

As the world conditions grow more desperate, those in positions of power will grow more desperate too. They will seize every advantage to claim, amass, and control the world’s most precious commodities, that of land, food, and water. Take for example the scramble to claim a stake in Africa’s as yet untapped resources. Its rich oil reserves and massive undeveloped lands have become a prime target for the likes of hedge funds investors and the politically corrupt. Canada, the USA, and Russia currently scramble to claim arctic sovereignty in order to stake a claim on the exceptionally rich resources that lie in the waters north of Canada.

PLUTO IN CAPRICORN, URANUS IN ARIES, AND EARTH CHANGES:

When Uranus tenants Aries and squares Pluto in Capricorn, both collective crisis and collective evolution speeds forward with much greater intensity. Lifestyles alter radically, not only through socio-economic and political change as outlined previously, but also through physical earth changes. This transit puts added physical stress on the earth beneath our feet, on the earth’s resources, and its atmosphere. As a case in point, the day Uranus entered Aries, March 11, 2011, a devastating earthquake and tsunami occurred in Northern Japan. The Fukishima-Daiichi nuclear (Pluto) disaster that followed sent radiation (Pluto, Uranus) into the atmosphere (also Uranus), contaminating both water and air. Over one thousand earthquakes were recorded in the days and weeks following. One month after the initial disaster, came another major earthquake, which caused four more explosions and more fire outbreaks, a complete knock-out of power, and the loss of workers’ lives. Radiation was recorded around the world, most notably along the west coast of the USA, Canada, and Europe. Months later, radiation continued to leak and the Japanese government would come to admit that the fallouts were more serious than initially reported to their people and to the world. Expected to take decades for full scale clean-up, this disaster supersedes the Chernobyl disaster (1986) as the worst and costliest nuclear crisis in history. Such battles are ones that humanity cannot afford to lose. The dire consequences of this nuclear crisis, the human error that caused the Gulf of Mexico Deep Water Oil Rig disaster of 2010, and other large scale events that are yet to come will serve as acceleration catalysts for humanity’s wake-up call. Japan announced that the Fukishima-Daiichi nuclear plant would be decommissioned once the crisis was over.

Crisis is often the primary catalyst for change, but it is not the only way. Note the proactive leadership of Germany regarding new energy sources. Their solar power panels have the capacity to output more power in one day than Japan’s entire Fukushima nuclear complex produces in one year.

Japan is located along the Ring of Fire, an area where the edges of a giant plate beneath the Pacific Ocean form a particularly intense ring of tectonic activity. The Ring of Fire forms a large horseshoe around the rim of the south and north Pacific Oceans, and into the Indian Ocean in the region of Indonesia. It includes the entire country of New Zealand, which experiences roughly 20,000 minor earthquakes annually. On September 4, 2010, New Zealand experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. On February 22, 2011 the country would be hard hit again with a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, the second largest disaster since 1931, when Uranus transited Aries and Pluto transited Cancer. June 13, 2011 would deliver yet another earthquake measured at 6.1 in magnitude.

The increasing size and frequency of earthquakes and of geophysical activity elsewhere is alarming evidence that a great deal of added pressure is building on the earth’s tectonic plates. In fact, the number of earthquakes recorded in the magnitude range of 7 – 7.9 rose sharply from twelve major events in 2008 to twenty-one major events in 2010. On Feb 27, 2010, Chile experienced an 8.8 magnitude earthquake, ranking among one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. In April of 2010, air travel across northern and western Europe was suspended for an initial six days due to the eruption of Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull, which spewed heavy ash into the air. Additional localized disruption to travel continued into May. The thick layer of ash was of particular impact to farming, harvesting and livestock. An increase in volcanic activity has also been recorded in Hawaii and elsewhere.

Due to the temperature rise of global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps, sea levels are rising at an accelerated rate. For the last century, sea level rise has been recorded at annual average of 1.88 mm. From 1993 through 2010, this rise has been recorded in the range of 2.9 to 3.4 mm. We can expect to see an even sharper incline in the critical years when Uranus in Aries forms exact squares to Pluto in Capricorn. Our love affair for coastal living may soon change. Scientists warn that cities such as San Francisco and homes built elsewhere on ocean shorelines and waters’ edges are perched precariously.

In the Uranus square Pluto years, we are likely to increase the frequency and intensity of massive catastrophes, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, major flooding, increasingly violent storms, tornadoes, forest fires, and other destructive weather extremes.

In 2010, Massive flooding in Pakistan affected approximately twenty million people, destroying property, livelihood, infrastructures, and agriculture, and severely hampering the country’s economy. December 2010 through January of 2011 saw a series of floods hit Australia, affecting at least seventy towns and approximately two hundred thousand people. In the spring of 2011, close to five million people were affected by massive flooding in China. In one hour, Wangmo, a county in Guizhou, recorded 122.5 mm of rainfall, the most rainfall seen in the county in 200 years. The spring of 2011 also brought major flooding to central Canada and the central USA.

Scientists report that an increase of glacier melting such as has been witnessed in Greenland has caused larger quantities of methane gas to be released into the atmosphere thereby increasing the greenhouse effect. In dramatic visual display, there are film recordings showing a gigantic burst of flame caused by a simple match strike over a hole carved in the permafrost ice. The ice melt and global temperature rise is also altering ocean currents and more pronouncedly affecting growing seasons, wild life, aquatic and marine life, not only in these extreme latitudes, but the world over.

While Pluto transits Capricorn and Uranus transits Aries, we are likely to see infrastructures such as roads, bridges, dams, levees, etc., suffer more rapid aging and integral disintegration from the damage caused by the earth’s shifts and environmental extremes. For some urban centers, seismic upgrades to buildings, etc. may prove to be an urgent race against the clock.

A NEW WORLD ORDER

At this intersection along the collective time-lines, we are beginning to see that the major crisis and conflicts now occurring in the world are spawning radical shifts.

Uranus is the planet of discovery, innovation, of technological and scientific advance. Genome mapping, stem cell research, cures for cancer, aids, and other fatal or degenerative diseases, spinal cord research, genetics, reproduction, brain science, synthetic biology, and more, – the rapid developments in medical research, science and computer technology are revolutionizing our lives in ways we could not have dreamed possible only a short while ago. We are now carrying computers in our pockets and on our wrists. A simple click can deliver instant front row access to riots, revolutions, wars, catastrophes, and other headline news.

The last time Uranus transited Aries and Pluto transited Capricorn, the first experiments were being conducted that would lead to the discovery of oxygen, carbon dioxide, photosynthesis, electricity, and more. We are only scratching the surface now and have yet to see the full extent of humankind’s amazing inventiveness and how it will change our everyday realities.

While Pluto in Capricorn can put our backs against the wall, Uranus in Aries serves to intensify the drive to find unique solutions to our “age-old” problems. Historically, the acceleration years when Uranus tenants Aries and Pluto tenants Capricorn are among the most radical and revolutionary. They are typically times of extreme chaos, disruption, and destruction. While the established ways of conducting business and of organizing life can “burn to the ground”, figuratively and literally speaking, the prompt of Uranus in Aries sees innovation and invention rapidly replace the fallen and the old status quo.

On the mental plane, the revolutionizing influence of Uranus liberates the crystallized consciousness (Capricorn) and the structural realities that underlie modern societies and modern life. The coming years of Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries are sure to prompt rapid, dramatic, and extreme change to our social, political, and economical status quo. The last time Uranus and Pluto formed a square aspect, Uranus tenanted Aries and Pluto tenanted Cancer. This was in the first half of the 1930s. During that time, the stock market crashed, weather extremes such as famine added more hardship to the depression era, the atom was split, and Hitler was on a rapid rise to power.

The combination of Uranus and Pluto serve to advance major social, cultural, political, scientific, and technological breakthroughs. When these planets are in aspect, everyday lifestyles are rapidly and radically transformed. For example, note that the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in the 1990’s brought the personal computer in our homes and forever revolutionized our lives.

Out of crisis comes new birth. Volatility in the Middle East in 2011 brought a sharp rise in the price of oil and gas at the pump. The nuclear disaster in Japan and fears of radiation contamination has put the world on high alert. We are coming to realize our dependencies on oil, gas, and nuclear energy as the poison pens of our ultimate demise.

Capricorn is the archetype of time and while Pluto transits this sign, time grows short, very short. Uranus square Pluto builds added urgency. Consider this transit as an ultimatum time. The revolutionizing mark left by the pivotal Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn years is sure to be indelible. We’ll see the writing on the wall through global warming, environmental catastrophe, the energy crisis, and the destruction caused by wasteful consumerism, economic, social, philosophical, and political self-serving, contagion, by man-made mistakes and oversights.

To the plus, new energy initiatives and sustainability solutions, along with inventions and scientific research directed to upgrade the quality of life will spawn new industries and new jobs that can create not only a rapid economic correction, but that can also create critical healing for our planet’s biosphere. Priorities will evolve, values will evolve, and so too that which we will cherish as valuable. Gold as a global standard is not the prize it once was. As water and food grows precariously short in supply and life on the planet is threatened, we will come to form truer concepts of wealth.

The Pluto in Capricorn years will bring humanity to its knees many times over. That which is not in keeping with the evolving program will be replaced. The new program will bring us back full circle, back to the Age of Pisces’ original mandate. Eventually we will learn to shift from a consciousness that is primarily defined by a false sense of separateness and that pits one against another. Eventually we will learn to realign to a state of consciousness that holds to a philosophy of one for-and-with another, one for-and-with all. It is time to embrace compassion, love, and inclusion, rather than hate and fear as the pathway home.
