Kepler College’s special 3-Hour workshop on “Solar Arcs: What They Are – How to Use Them” presented by Robert Glasscock on November 4, 2017 stirred interest and even controversy from its illustrations of solar arc techniques in Donald Trump’s and the United States’ horoscopes. In this article, Robert expands on some of the points made and shows how you can effectively use transits to solar arcs. Click here for an update to this article.

In addition to astrological familiarity, Mundane astrology requires broad factual knowledge of current and historic events – including politics, economics, stock markets, religions, wars, ecology, scientific and industrial breakthroughs, psychology, medicine and media (for starters). But any astrologer possessing basic horoscopic techniques can and should learn to apply them to charts of nations and leaders as well as clients’ charts.
During the November 4 workshop, I used both natal and mundane examples of solar arcs charts and transits to solar arc charts. In the mundane portion, I noted that the United States has not seen astrological conditions like these since right before the civil war. I also used Donald Trump’s chart to show how his solar arc chart and transits to his solar arc chart reflected the issues surrounding the Presidency and his administration, particularly issues related to the investigation of Russian interference in the campaign.
The “controversy” over the solar arcs workshop came from individuals who felt that the mundane astrological interpretation was based on “mere opinion” instead of long-observed and documented facts gleaned from news reports and Donald Trump’s and his family’s own words and actions. But if an interpretation is “mere opinion, this promotes the falsehood that astrology is nothing more (or less) than one’s particular bias. In other words: astrology is meaningless and useless if it doesn’t confirm a given person’s “beliefs.”
One reason I used solar arcs and ancient techniques to rectify Trump’s horoscope was to dispel such attitudes. Using those techniques, I validated Trump’s natal chart and showed it correctly predicting the sexes of his five children in birth order and the sexes of his four siblings, in birth order. The rectified chart moved by 4 minutes, from 10:54 AM to 10:50 AM. Astrology is not mere “opinion.” The old technique holds up.
In the chart to the right, the inner ring is the solar arc chart for November 4, 2017. This is based on a natal chart for June 14, 1946 at 10:50 AM in Jamaica, NY. The November 4, 2017 transits are in the outer ring (for a larger size that is easier to read, please click here or click on the chart itself).
In the six short weeks since the Nov. 4 Solar Arcs workshop, much of what was originally outlined and delineated by solar arcs has already come to pass. For example:
- Transiting Saturn conjunct Trump’s Solar Arc Jupiter in the 2nd House. Jupiter rules the 2nd house of money and 5th house which represents Trump’s 1st child, Donald Trump, Jr. This transit challenges Trump Sr.’s self worth and finances. It has to do with Trump’s money and assets, as well as money at a distance, money through foreign countries, income and income taxes. Saturn constricts, it clamps down, but it drives home the facts, pleasant or unpleasant. Which is why people fear it so much, especially if they have played loose with the truth. In connection with the Russian investigation, this transit could result in Donald Trump clamping down on the justice department by firing Mueller or other actions. Or justice may clamp down on Donald Trump. Or both: the first ultimately yielding to the latter. Trump, Jr. has been quoted as stating “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.” Jr. has had numerous contacts with various Russian bankers tied to Moscow during the campaign and afterwards. In the two weeks after the workshop, Trump Jr. was again prominently in the news connected with Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian influence on the elections. Trump supporter and Wall Street Journal owner Rupert Murdoch, we now know, killed an editorial during the presidential campaign that exposed Trump’s Mafia ties. Five WSJ editorial staffers departed as a result.
- Transiting Saturn’s next aspect is a square to Trump’s Solar Arc Saturn in the 11th house at 2 degrees Libra. Saturn’s grip again emphasizes actions related to law and justice – (breaking, obstructing, ignoring, skirting, politicizing – and finally paying the penalty for all of the above).
It was impossible in that workshop, from time constraints, to source each delineation: they arose from 53 years in practice. However, I did choose to quote Reinhold Ebertin’s “The Combination of Stellar Influences” for one especially harsh solar arc in Trump’s chart:
- Transiting Retrograde Neptune opposition the Solar Arc Sun/Mercury midpoint.
To quote Reinhold Ebertin of this midpoint aspect: ‘Swindlers and crooks. The experience of deception.’ Trump’s record on this score is documented: it’s the primary reason U.S. banks refused to lend to him anymore. [See that spiked WSJ article on Trump and the Mafia.] But it works both ways. Trump has been swindled himself – by the Russians – who historically and notoriously work this way – through family members – to ingratiate and insinuate themselves into their marks.
During the workshop, I noted another important solar arc in Donald Trump’s chart, which I will address more exhaustively below.
“In his Solar Arc chart, Pluto is in Libra – where it is about to be transited by an ‘end-of-life’ opening square from transiting Pluto in Capricorn, in his 3rd house of the mind. See all the reports of Trump’s mental unraveling. And let’s not forget his own father’s losing six year battle with Alzheimer’s.
“What house is ruled by Pluto in Trump’s solar arc chart updated to today [November 4, 2017]? His 1st house.” The physical body, the head, and brain.
In fact, as you see in Trump’s Solar Arc chart, both his physical body (1st house) and his 6th House of health are ruled by Mars (Aries on his 6th also rules the head and brain). Further, Trump’s Solar Arc 8th House (inconjunct his 1st, like the 6th, is equally important in health – as are all inconjuncts) is ruled by the neurological sign of Gemini (Trump’s natal Sun sign).
The following (published December 20, 2017 – seven weeks after the Solar Arcs Workshop), are excerpts from Amy Goodman’s important interview (“Democracy Now!”) with Dr. Bandy Lee, forensic psychiatrist on the faculty of Yale School of Medicine –– under the banner: “Thousands of mental health professionals warn of Trump’s increasing instability.” For the full transcript click here.
AMY GOODMAN: We end today’s show with growing questions about President Donald Trump’s mental health. . . .
BANDY LEE: Well, it’s actually historically unprecedented that so many mental health professionals have come forth with their concerns, under any president, of any party. So it really is the first time that this many mental health professionals are coming together in a coalition. . . . There are thousands of us at this point.
AMY GOODMAN: So talk about—lay out what your concerns are as a psychiatrist.
BANDY LEE: So, our concerns are that someone with this level of mental instability and impairment has this much power, in the office of the presidency—basically, the power to start a devastating war, to launch nuclear missiles, without any inhibition. You saw from the hearings that there is very little inhibition in place right now. Within five minutes of the commander-in-chief’s orders, nuclear missiles could be launched without question. And—
AMY GOODMAN: And how does that relate to his mental fitness?
BANDY LEE: And, of course, his decision-making capacity, having such levels of impulsivity, having a loose grip on reality and being so fragile in his ability to cope with ordinary stresses, such as basic criticisms or unflattering news, will tend to unravel, especially in times of heightened stress, such as under the special counsel’s investigations.
Consider now what could not be fully addressed on November 4th due to time limitations: the additional solar arcs pertaining to Donald Trump’s health. Remember: solar arcs are in effect for about 6 months on either side of exact. The following solar arc interpretations are taken verbatim from Ebertein’s The Combination of Stellar Influences.

As I stated in the Solar Arcs Webinar, based on Trump’s solar arcs and transits to them:
“The present degree of his Scorpio solar arc Ascendant is about to enter the explosive Aquarius duad – his Solar Arc 4th house ‘end of the matter’ – whether you read that as the end of his presidency or of his life, figuratively or literally. It will remain in that erratic, unpredictable, explosive duad for 2 ½ years [from November 4, 2017, or the spring of 2020). Which is the maximum he can remain in office. But his end is likely to be much sooner. Unless there is a military coup and takeover of the United States.
“The underworld is exactly where Saturn is transiting in both Donald Trump’s solar arc horoscope and the horoscope of the United States. We’ve seen that it’s conjunct his solar arc Jupiter (exact over the next two weeks) and about to square his solar arc Saturn (exact in January of 2018), then forming its direct station exactly on this square on September 6th of next year – which is perhaps the soonest he will be effectively removed from office or resign. But that won’t change things as much as one might hope. Mike Pence will assume the Oval Office and the right wing will remain in power.
“Pluto itself is also transiting its home turf in the underworld in Trump’s solar arc chart. Where it forms a 4th house square to its solar arc position – repeatedly – this December [2017] and January [2018], and again from next September through early November. It makes its direct station exactly at this square on October 1, 2018.
“Coupled with the Solar Arcs above, it’s no hyperbole to say that the spring of 2020 is the outside marker for the end of Trump or the end of the United States and the free republic for which it stands.”
